Rio Fly Line Winners!

Congrats to our six Rio fly line winners!

Thanks to all that made entered by making comments. Lots of GREAT feedback for the guys over at Rio.

Kirk Werner is a writer, illustrator and author of the series of children’s fly fishing books featuring Olive the Little Woolly Bugger.  The Olive books use fly-fishing as a vehicle to entertain and introduce a new generation to the sport, and the stories are told from the perspective of Olive, a young fishing fly who happens to be a woolly bugger. A lifelong resident of Washington state, he enjoys chasing trout and steelhead. He is a freelance graphic designer and also the voice behind the blog, Unaccomplished Angler.

Carl Rettenberger of Virginia:

“Fly fishing is my passion and I’m at it at least 80 days a year regardless of the weather. No matter where I go, Feather-Craft Fly Fishing goes with me through the fine gear and equipment that they sell and guarantee. The Coho featured in this picture was caught in August of 2009 on the Kanektok River in Alaska using an WF8I/S Rio “Type-6 Sink” Outbound Integrated Shooting Taper Fly Line”

Forrest Carpenter of Indiana:

“Evan, I have decided to try the 6 weight DC 24 foot sink tip fly line.  I am planning on using it for cold weather smallie fishing.  I have also included a picture from my latest fishing trip.  This was a 34″ Northern Pike caught on the fly in late May on Gould Lake near Wawa Ontario.  Thanks again and looking forward to the next drawing!”

Chris Barclay, one of our local customers and friends won himself a Rio Gold WF3F for this new Redington CT he just picked up.

“I finally got out to use the new line today and it’s perfect for the 3wt CT! Caught several fat 8-9″ gills this am before work between 6:30 and 7:30 before the rain. 4 12″ bass too.”

Above is a pic of Chris with a small Guadalupe bass caught in Austin, TX. The other is a HOG largemouth caught here around St. Louis. You can check out Chris’ blog at http://breambum.blogspot.com/

Richard Berlin of Massachusetts

“”Though my real passion are Permit, I caught this 13 lb Mutton Snapper on a spawning shrimp pattern while Permit fishing a flat west of Key West one month ago.”

Ken Campbell of Montana

“I’m a very traditional speycaster and steelheader focused mainly on long belly lines and hairwing flies.  I’ve been known to sleep in my car and eat bad food although clearly from poor planning and not as a lifestyle.”

Above is a photo on the Campbell River,  just upstream of the line fence pool by Haig-Brown house. You can check out Ken’s blog at: http://haikusteelhead.blogspot.com/
